SHOW NOTES:

About the production team

The story follows Lucy and Jane who are the best of friends, finishing each other’s sentences, predicting every detail of each other’s food order, and pretty much knowing everything about each other. But when Jane is promoted at work and agrees to move to London for her new position, Lucy confesses her deepest, long-held secret: She likes women, she has for a long time, and she’s terrified by this later-in-life realization. Suddenly, their friendship is thrown into chaos as the two choose different routes by which to navigate the unexpected changes in their lives.

The film is a reflection of writer Lauren Pomerantz and producer Jessica Elbaum, best friends since 2004 who took their sisterly bond to the screen to showcase the many life-defining friendships shared by women and Pomerantz tells her most personal story yet, bringing an added layer of authenticity to her touching, smart and funny script.

Anchored by endearing performances and the undeniable chemistry between Dakota Johnson as Lucy and Sonoya Mizuno as Jane, the film is an exceptionally sweet and charming story about two adults working through the complexities of self-discovery and personal awakening. It is the kind of bittersweet indie that audiences crave with a message about the need to live in truth.

Tig Notaro and Stephanie Allynne – who are married in real life – share this directorial feature debut as a duo. The film is an exceptionally sweet and charming story about two adults working through the complexities of self-discovery and personal awakening. It is a relatable, poignant, and often humorous look at the transformative power of human vulnerability.
